  1.

My Dreams Are the Sun

See that golden hue
Burning in the west
My dreams are with that color
My dreams are the sun
The sun always sets
But never seems to rise
That sun carries my dreams
Slowly out of my reach
I watch it slide away
Leaving me behind
The color disappears
My dreams are with that sun
Whenever the sun sets
It rises in another place
A place blessed by that light
My dreams are hidden in that light
At my window seat
I watch the sun take it all away
My dreams are with the sun
My dreams are the sun

To Save a Life

Dancing and twisting
Behind silent eyes
Not ready to come out
Until the world dies
Afraid to surrender
And be more than this
The eyes tell a story
And harbor a risk
Pushed to extremes
The moment has come
To never give up
Until whats done is done
Not knowing emotions
Only the hated pain
They dance yet again
Leaving everything sane
Come crashing down
Oh, Darkness and Light
The moment has come
To save one more life

bBarely Alive/b

Im barely alive
Im barely breathing
I forget how to speak
And now Im not seeing
Was this a mistake?
Whos fault is it now?
Im no longer standing
Because I forget how

Is this moment
The time weve all been
Speaking of
Is this the feeling
Weve heard so much about
Why cant I
Think clearly
Who will break my fall

I have no control
Im walking blind
Tears wet on my face
I want to leave this behind
Why cant I understand?
What is this all about?
Im running out of ways
To turn inside-out

Is this the memory
I want to carry all my life
Feeling this
Yet so numb am I
Ive heard so much about
Absolutely nothing
Now its here
Im left unprepared

Desperate hearts bleeding
Speechless voices screaming
Broken bones moving
Yet I am no longer alive

Im barely alive
Im barely breathing
I forget how to speak
But now thats not needed

'Breath Is A Fragile Thing'

A fatal blow
To my weakened soul
And Im out
Out at round one
Never really had a chance
A crack in the vase
What a sorrowful face
And Im gone
So far away
Hiding from the rest of you

And Ive just learned
That breath is a fragile thing
A gift beyond all of our dreams
Dont let me block it out
Please,
Dont let me block it
Out

I have been torn
Wished I was never born
Im still here
Almost alive
Never really had a choice
A thorn in the flesh
Dont feel like getting dressed
Another day
No end in sight
Lost in my thoughts and failures

And Ive just learned
That breath is a fragile thing
A gift beyond all our dreams
Dont let me block it out
Please,
Dont let me block it
Out

No obligation
Here
Not the time to
Fear
No running
Away
Though here we wont
Remain

And Ive just learned
That breath is a fragile thing
Please,
Dont let me block it out

*The inspiration for this poem came from one of my very favorite quotes by Jon Foreman
We all try to block it out: breath is a fragile thing: a gift not an obligation.
