Friendship

Forty words:

Anxious moments disappear
when you whisper 'Joyce'
winter days are sunny days
friendship is Rolls Royce.
Come, perform those madrigals
soothe her with your voice
forget the hour long ago
when romance lost its glow.
Smile, and say: 'Hi Joyce'.

Friendship Holiday

O come ye down from Bonnie Scotland
Leave the Borders for awhile.
We will sing about Loch Lomond
And Bonnie Mary of Argyle...because
Scotland has taken her rightful place
In the 'United Kingdom', blending with
Northern Ireland, England and Wales,
Togetherness encouraging Freedom.
So please come ye down to England.
Bring photographs of your many islands
And the beautiful mountain scenery.
For your love is like a red red rose
That shineth brightly amid the greenery.

From Early Morn

Mummy and Daddy are addicted
They turn on their TV at nine,
As rain falls outside
On the sofa they hide
Enjoying a glass of red wine.

News at noon can never be missed
This is so full of surprises:
The latest crime figures
News from abroad
And joy, if the share index rises.

Three hours on, still glued to the screen
Antiques on sale now, but who cares?
So delighted are they
With their television set
Switch it off - goodness, who dares?

Historical novels and stories of love
Fill the hours with sweet fantasy.
Mummy views all night
Daddy does too -
Making the most of the licence fee.

  800.

From Now

In the sun we were basking
On the day you were asking
If my heart would always be true.
My answer I told you,
My arms would enfold you
From now, till life's journey is through.

So, don't ever doubt me
When you are without me;
I will soon be returning to you.
In church friends will find us
As the preacher unites us
From now, till life's journey is through.

So, please, please believe me
And never mislead me,
Every moment I live just for you.
My vows I have taken...
All others forsaken
From now, till life's journey is through.
