Damaged Wing

From where the bird came, I do not know.
I suddenly saw him, that beautiful crow.
With a wing badly damaged, he pottered along,
He could not fly far, or sing his song.

I placed fresh seed and water out there ~
He fluttered a little way up in the air,
And settled on top of an old rustic seat
Where he stayed all day in the sultry heat.

At the late hour, in the sunset's glow
I searched high and low for my beautiful crow.
All the next day, until evening's end...
And I could find no sign of my feathered friend.

But on the new morn ~ what did I see?
Lying in my bird-bath quite comfortably,
A beautiful crow, as lame as could be,
Recovering in silence, he came back to me.

Alas and behold! He is missing again ~
Fully recovered, he has flown faraway.

Dance Of Romance

An autumn moon is shining down
on a night of perfect love,
there is joy and happiness all around
and music from heaven above.

We dance the morning dew away
as we both walk home to Primrose Bay
Tomorrow will be the wedding day
and I'll see a white dove on the
Chapel of Love.
Joyce Hemsley

Dance Of The Hours

Beethoven's pastoral symphony
and Korsakov's flight of the bumblebee
remind my heart of love in the spring
when music to me was everything!
Roses of red and quiet shady bowers
filled my world with irresistible powers.

So, light up my life...let the music play,
carry me home again just for a day;
forget all the torment and skies of grey
I can't deny that for 'romance' I pray.
Sun overhead in a garden of flowers,
and memories of the ballet ~
'Dance of the Hours'.

Dancing Again

Students bounce around the dance floor
Singing love songs like Fred Astaire...
Swinging, swirling, bodies whirling
'Andantino' fills the air.

Hip-hop, BePop, and the style of Wrap
Rhythmic steps to the Jive and Jazz
Young boys seem to be going crazy
dazzled by the razzmataz.

Back to New York's Tin Pan Ally...
Any music will see them through
Without a care and happy-go-lucky
Tangerine Dreams are coming true.

~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~ ~~~
Written six years ago, after viewing
Tangerine Dream on the television.
