He Is The One
Sunday is the day
I receive his red roses;
he charms my whole being
as sweet words he discloses.
I savour each moment
with a heart young and gay
but dread darkest midnight
when the dream slips away.
With him near, I am joyous
my soul it is light...
without him, there's nothing
but darkest midnight.

I See No Ships
Enjoying my day at the coast again
Resting on the soft golden sand
Seeing young lovers passing by,
As they stroll along, hand in hand.
High overhead, three grey herons fly
Settling on the northern rocks...
Not one ship do I see, although I hear
A shrill call of a guillemot.
The ocean is very peaceful today
But 'planes are making a droning cry.
We live in an ever-changing world
Where the sea gives way to the sky.
We can call it sad and call it strange
We can call it what we will...
But 'I see no ships' as in olden times
The horizon seems wider and wider still.

Landslides Happen Now And Again
Subsidence on the railway line
No trains will run today
Spread the news to office workers
They must find another way...
Sorry, it's just reality!
Work will take one hundred men
A thousand hours it seems
The cost will be phenomenal
No, this is not a childhood dream
This is stark reality.
Forty days and forty nights
Banging, clanging, boom-boom-boom
But after all is said and done
Passenger travel will resume
And this is not imaginary.

Little Blue Car
How I adore a bright sunny morn
Glorious summer glistening with light
Reminiscent of days in the blue Ford Anglia
When we travelled the road ~ love at its height.
Again I can see the whole picture
Of the hills and heather so sweet,
The scenery resembling an island of dreams
As our blue Ford Anglia made happiness complete.
Secretly, I offer a silent prayer
Those bygone days still live in my heart.
Just we two, in that little car of blue
Admiring the magnificence of God's works of art.
