Pillow Of Dreams

Bells echo clearly across Southern land
As I see the village where love began.

So happy were we, think back my dear,
Yesterday's love was more than sincere.
Never to see a grey cloud above...
Life was a holiday in a cradle of love.
Fun and laughter, the chores shared by two
In that cottage of dreams with its floral view.
You set the roses ~ a gift just for me,
And the scene from the window was heavenly.

Bells echo softly across hill and plain
As I re-live the magic of memory lane.

Plan Our Days

We must accept each climate change
Adjust our lives and plan our days.

A gentle breeze can glorify
The hottest summer day
But if that breeze turns to a gale
All happiness can fade.

Gentle rain is such a blessing
Watering the lawns and flowers
But a mild shower may become a torrent
And ruin sporting hours.

Glistening snow at wintertime
Gives children so much pleasure
But when the dreaded freeze sets in
We pray for milder weather.

We must accept each climate change
Adjust our lives and plan our days.

Plant Of Many Shades

Rictameter Style:

Larkspur
A bloom so sweet
I love you, you're so neat
Pretty blue floral arrangement
The 'delphinium' always wins the show
But I prefer your shorter name
The name I speak in June
My old-fashioned
Larkspur

Playing 'Top Host'

Humour intended:

I invited a close friend to dine with me
then to play golf, returning for tea.
The day was fine, no cloud in the sky
so the culinary items I decided to buy.

I purchased a joint of fine sirloin steak
and yorkshire puddings I would bake;
plenty of vegetables cooked just right
with rosemary sauce as an added delight.

A favourite sweet ~ peaches and cream
fitted the menu like a splendid dream!
My table was laid as the clock struck one
and with much relief the cooking was done.

Now...that expected knock on the door;
my friend had arrived to goodies galore,
but as I was just set to play the 'top host'
all he asked for was scrambled egg on toast.
