Only Love

She's the one you've
'got to' run back to;
she's the one on your
mind everyday...
you try to forget her
but life's gloomy
without her, and
clouds in the sky are
dark grey.

You can't fathom why
this feeling should be.
The answer is Love...
you'll never be free,
because love is life's
mystery. Just take
a look ~ the words
are here in the book:
The essence of fidelity.

August 2008

Only Lovers Can Understand

Walk with me on the river bank
Just you and I, hand in hand.
Capture my heart, whisper those words
Only lovers can understand.

Lie at my side on the grass so green
Beneath the tree, in the breeze.
Tell me your thoughts, sing me sweet songs
'Propose' on your bended knees.

Place golden rings on my fingers fine,
And there they will always stay
Until stars lose their shine and shimmer
Or the sun and moon fade away.

This is romance, seldom seen by two
Your love for me... and mine for you.

Only Make-Believe

A painful goodbye entered life today
When his young fairy queen left the scene.
The garden of springtime lacked floral array
He had lost the heaven that might have been.

There would be no more words of misleading deceit
He doubted the affair from the start...
Never again would their pathways meet
On a foolish romance of the heart.

Our Fine Romance

Forty words:

Strolling along the banks of the Trent

enjoying West Bridgford air,

was prelude to unfailing romance

foreseen by prophets at Nottingham Fair.

In Robin Hood country, Sherwood,

we married decades ago...

tomorrow holds wonderful memories

August Anniversary tells me so.
