The Afghan Star

The last smile you gave me
liveth on in my mind,
Oh, wonderful father,
From years long gone by.
I shall never forget
The sad look in your eye
As you silently uttered
That final goodbye.

Your medals I treasure.
They were modestly won...
Among them 'The Afghan Star'
From Great World War One.
As you rest up in Heaven
Where the rose gardens shine
May the angels protect you
Dear father of mine.

The Angels Sing

Christmas is over once more.
We greet a New Year
On each and every golden shore.
...May the Angels Sing...

Winter weather should soon disappear
Giving way to the glory of spring.
Then to admire colourful tulips ~
Bulb-shaped blooms and leaves that gleam.
Oh what happiness a garden of
Magnificent tulips will bring.

The Beauty Of June

This dawn is a wonderful dawning
Fluffy clouds dance to a tune
An expanse of bright gold and yellow
Enhances the wonder of June.

The borders of flowers blend together
Sparkling in the summertime glow
And the air is so fresh this morning
Cheering one's heart, ever so!

A stillness and calmness within me
Prompts a poetical lay,
And my words flow gently and sweetly
As birds hearken to all that I say.

Today brings an old-fashioned picture
A Van Gogh antique makes me swoon,
And I feel just like singing loud praises
To God ~ for the beautiful glory of June.

  1616.

The Beginning

Resting by the river
Under a greenwood tree
You said 'dear it's now or never'
Come love me forever...believe in me.

How could I forget that countryside walk
When the springtime weather was fair?
The day was filled with sweet happy talk
And you and I ~ such an elegant pair.

Resting by the river
Under a greenwood tree
You said 'dear it's now or never'
Come love me forever...and marry me.
