  1613.

The Birmingham Six

They came out of prison
To face the real world
Those long-suffering men,
Seventeen years they had served.
Seventeen years for a bomb crime
They did not commit...how can we
Be so wrong, when on the Jury
we sit.

I quote words from
Gilbert and Sullivan's
Trial by Jury:

'Now, jurymen, hear my advice.
All kinds of vulgar prejudice
I pray you set aside.
With stern judicial frame of mind
From bias free of every kind
This Trial must be tried'.

The Britain Of Yesteryear

Long ago we lived in fear
Of losing friends and family.
Everything that we held dear
Could so easily disappear
Whilst fighting for our liberty.
Raids from the air brought despair
The blitz on Britain was hard to bear.
We saw it through to the end.
But prayed to our God ~ Amen.
The final death toll and devastation
Was beyond today's imagination.
But on the eighth day of May
The horror was gone, we did survive
Because heaven's peaceful angels
Descended in nineteen forty-five.

The Burning Fire

Sing your song of glory now
Hold your banner high
May the whole world hear the story
From the battle cry...
March on, march on to victory
And historians will tell
How you rose with dignity
Above the burning fire of hell.

The Champion

Joe writes his story calmly
Perfect grammar ~ everything!
His energy is sparkling
A Professional in the ring.

Not vastly educated!
People tear his brain apart,
Joe suffers badly from the critics
But his shows are works of art.

Once he was a middleweight
Rising quickly up the scale
A heavyweight he soon became
His greatness could never fail.

Now Joe is completing his profile
With truth and honesty from the start
He just writes it as he says it...
From deep down in his heart.
