Grandmother

She taught me how to cook,
She taught me how to sew,
I have always thought of my grandmother as…
A rather strong woman,
Who could withstand the toughest wind,
Until one day they told me,
She had had two strokes and couldn’t smile again,
I know you may think “well she still loved you”,
But I cried until there were no more tears,
I wept until my body shook,
Because even though I knew she could feel it,
She could never show happiness again,
She could never smile,
She couldn’t spread her laughter,
Like she had before,
At first I was mad,
But that all changed very soon,
Because I became sad,
My grandmother passed away,
When I was a very small child,
I remember little but her smile,
And I hope that she is smiling down on me from above.

A Mockingbird's Love

I sit here looking out my window,
And there atop a tree,
Happens to be a mockingbird nest,
As I peer over my shoulder,
Into that little perch I notice a miniscule bird,
He looks at me and chirps,
And I see his mother come swooping in,
She looks at me with pure dismay,
And then turns away,
She cuddles him and gives him some food,
One last glance in my direction,
And then she's off,
But she hasn't really gone,
No, she's waiting around to protect what she loves,
What is so interesting is that she is an animal and it's her instincts,
But we are the 'superior' race but with all that goes on,
When did that instinct leave us?

Dancing in the Moon Light

His eyes twinkle in the moon light,
The blue in them is so deep,
That they pull me in,
After him,
He twirls me around,
With gentle care,
My head is on his shoulder,
While I stand there looking up at him,
Hoping the song never ends,
But it does,
And we don't move we just stand there,
Dancing to our own beat,
The moon bathing us in it's radiant light,
Everyone is watching,
They form a circle around us,
And we just dance,
Like no ones there,
Like we don't care,
And then it ends,
A very happy ending.

Don't Take the Fast/Easy Road

Some things are meant to be challenging,
To give our faith and will a chance,
But we always have a choice,
And the other is,
Take the fast road,
But when you do you skip that chance to prove your hope,
You show a coward who runs,
And most of the time the road comes to a dead end,
REALLY soon,
So whats the point?
